David Morrisey
Born August 28, 1965 – Son of William and Rose Morrisey. William was a career military non-commissioned officer and as such moved his wife and seven children from base to base around the country finally settling down in Seattle, Washington when he was assigned to Fort Lawton. When the base finally closed, William stayed. They had a home in the Central area of Seattle known as “not a ghetto” by those who denied Seattle ever had one; white elite citizens too proud to admit the truth. David was the middle child with three older brothers and three younger sisters. No matter what happened, he was in the middle of it trying to keep the peace.
As a young man, David was heavily involved with gangs in his neighborhood. This involvement with gangs came about because of the lack of him having a father figure in his life. As a career military man, David’s father was always overseas serving his country. Therefore, the members in his gang filled that void in his life.
After many years of living that dangerous life, David managed to grab his high school diploma and escape by joining the military to get out of the gang lifestyle. Two years later, he married his high school sweetheart, Leticia Evans. He considered a military career, but felt he owed his wife and two boys a better life. He was honorably discharged and moved back home to Seattle where he applied to the SPD, just one year ahead of Miles, his future partner.
David was sworn in immediately after his graduation from the Academy in 1993 and assigned to undercover narcotics in his old neighborhood. For five years he worked perilous assignments in the Central Area until he managed to get transferred to patrol duty at the north precinct.
