About the Authors
David Marshall
David Marshall, one of the six children of a career Marine, started out his life traveling the United States via military bases. Eventually, his folks settled in California. He graduated from Santa Ana Valley High School in Orange County and joined the Air Force, serving as a security police officer. After being (Honorably Discharged), joined the (Santa Ana) police department.
Rising to the rank of corporal, David served in several capacities, including gang and narcotics suppression, field training officer, graffiti enforcement unit leader, and many others. After retirement, David moved his family to Snowflake, AZ, to start a Christian ministry called Shepherds Ranch, a women’s shelter. Taking in battered women and children at first, it soon grew into a church, Calvary Chapel Snowflake, with David as the senior pastor for the past twenty-three years.
In 2022, at the urging of the Northeastern Arizona Community, David ran for political office and was elected to the Arizona State House of Representatives. He continues to lead the church and represent his district and the state of Arizona faithfully.
David harbored the inspiration for the Stained Brass series for more than twenty years before teaming up with Durrone Schuler. Together, they have brought it to life.

Durrone Schuler
Durrone Schuler has spent most of his life in the Seattle area since his mother moved him and his brother from California in 1955. He was part of the second graduating class of Shoreline High School in 1959, the same year his coauthor, David Marshall, was born. He went on to college at Everett Junior College, the University of Washington, and San Bernardino Valley College, finally achieving his bachelor’s degree from Colorado Technical University in 2007 (no one said he was quick).
Durrone pursued an eclectic series of careers, beginning as a fry cook, moving on to Boeing, becoming an aircraft electrician, then into office machine repair, before returning to Boeing until his retirement in 2009. In between and since, he’s performed and written plays, short stories, and articles just because he loved them. Some articles got published, some short stories won prizes, and his plays were performed in children’s church productions.
Since his retirement, Durrone has written numerous essays and memoirs and three novels: The Feather Bed, Stained Brass, and Stained Brass Retribution, the last two with his co-author, David Marshall. He is working on a sequel to his first novel and another Stained Brass novel to be released in late 2024 or early 2025.
Durrone currently resides in Arlington, Washington, with his wife of 56 years, Trena, and continues to keep a close relationship with his many Snowflake friends, especially David.
